Today is a Special Election Day in the State of Ohio, and there is only one thing on the ballot.

That is State Issue 1.

A yes vote increases the number of counties from which signatures are required to get an amendment on the ballot from 44 counties to all 88 counties and increases the passing percentage from a simple majority to 60% on citizen and legislature-initiated referendums.

A no vote keeps the number of counties from which signatures are required to get an amendment on the ballot at 44 counties, and maintains the passing percentage of a citizen-initiated referendum at a simple majority.

Voters in Kenton and Buck, Pleasant, Cessna, Goshen and Lynn Townships will vote in the Community Building at the fairgrounds in Kenton.

Voters in Mt. Victory, Ridgeway and Hale, Dudley and Taylor Creek Townships will vote in the Mt. Victory Community Building.

Voters in Forest, Dunkirk and Jackson and Blanchard Townships will vote in the All Weather Pavilion in Forest.

Voters in Ada, Liberty and Washington Townships will vote in the Health Professionals Building in Ada.

Voters in Alger, McGuffey and Marion Township will vote at the Alger Assembly of God Church in Alger.

Voters in McDonald and Roundhead Townships will vote at the McDonald Township Hall on State Route 67.

The polls are open from 6:30am to 7:30 this evening.
