The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred Thursday morning on State Route 31 within the intersection of Miller Road in Union County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was notified of a two-vehicle injury crash involving a semi-tractor-trailer, and a passenger car. The preliminary investigation showed that a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox, operated by Miranda Ostrander, thirty-four of West Mansfield, Ohio, was east bound on Miller Road. Ostrander failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of SR 31 and was struck by a 2020 Peterbilt, semi tractor-trailer. The Peterbilt was traveling north bound on SR 31 and was operated by George Gulledge 52, of Dublin, Ohio.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene.

The semi tractor-trailer sustained considerable damage to the fuel tank resulting in over 120 gallons of diesel fuel leaking at the scene. The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency was contacted and arrived on scene to contain and dispose of the hazardous material.

All parties involved were transported to the Memorial Hospital of Union County by ground ambulance for her injuries. Ostrander’s six-year-old passenger was in a child restraint seat and received minor injuries.

Troopers received assistance at the scene from the Ohio Department of Transportation, Union County Sheriff’s Office, Northwestern Fire and EMS, North Union Fire and EMS, Marysville Fire Department, and the Environmental Protection Agency. Kirby’s and Osborne Towing towed the vehicles from the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
