Upper Sandusky Gets New Vancrest Facility as Kenton Project Progresses

Photo: Vancrest of Upper Sandusky Vancrest opened a new facility in Upper Sandusky this week. The new 87,000 square foot building includes a 99-bed skilled nursing facility, consisting of 79 long-term care beds and a specialized 20-bed rehabilitation wing. Additionally, the facility will include a 40-unit assisted living facility with 10 units dedicated to memory care. Construction of the facility began in July of 2024. Dunkirk Man to Get Hearing on Motion to Withdraw Guilty Pleas

A Dunkirk man will get a hearing in his attempt to withdraw guilty pleas in Hardin County Common Pleas Court. Zachery Freed was indicted in May of 2025 on one count of intimidation, one count of disrupting public services and three counts of domestic violence. He ended up pleading guilty to disrupting public services and two counts of domestic violence. Before the sentencing date, Freed filed a motion to withdraw the pleas and proceed to trial. Riverdale Youth Sports Event Raises Over $25,000

Riverdale Falcons Youth Sports Organization The Riverdale Falcons Youth Sports Organization announced the final net profit from the 2026 Riverdale Spirts Reverse Raffle. With support from Riverdale athletes and the community, just over $25,900 was raised. The money will be split evenly between the Riverdale Athletic Boosters and the Riverdale Youth Sports Organization.

Benjamin Logan Schools Approve New Superintendent Contract at Recent Meeting

Benjamin Logan School's Board of Education approved a three-year contract for a new superintendent. At Monday evening's meeting, the board officially hired Dr. Sean Flynn as the school's new superintendent starting August 1. Flynn's annual salary will be $135,000, with a three percent increase at the beginning of the 2027-28 school year, and an increase of three percent at the begiining of the 2028-29 school year. The Kenton City Schools Board of Education held its April meeting Monday evening. Superintendent Chad Thrush announced that a public hearing will be held to discuss the re-employment of Lisa Cochensparger as the Administrative Assistant in the Treasurerโ€™s Office. United Way of Hardin County Announces 3rd Annual Golf Outing

United Way of Hardin County's 3rd Annual Golf Outing will be held May 30. Shotgun start will be at 9:00 that morning at Memorial Park Golf Club in Kenton. There will be teams of four, and the cost is $30 per member with cart, $45 per member with no cart and $65 for non-members. Proceeds benefit United Way of Hardin County Partner Agencies.
