Riverdale Athletics Seeking Volunteers for Fall Home Events

Riverdale Athletics is looking for a few community members who would be willing to help at home athletic events this fall. They are currently looking for a High School Football Chain Gang Operator, and a High School Football Scoreboard Operator. No prior experience is necessary, as they can provide instruction and training. If you are interested in helping with one of these positions, email Brandon Watkins at Bwatkins@riverdalefalcons.org.

OSHP Announces OVI Checkpoints in Allen and Hancock Counties

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced today OVI checkpoints will be held in Allen and Hancock Counties tomorrow evening. The checkpoints, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. Additionally, troopers will conduct saturation patrols in the area of the checkpoints. If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you. The exact location of the checkpoints will be announced Friday morning.

PUCO issues $800,000 in hazardous materials training grants

COLUMBUS, OHIO (August 19, 2026) – The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) today announced that it has awarded $800,000 in hazardous materials training grants to 43 applicants. “By investing in hazardous materials training, these grants will help ensure thousands of emergency responders across Ohio are prepared to respond quickly, safely and effectively when incidents occur,” stated PUCO Chair Jenifer French. Riverdale Local Schools The Hancock Public Health Vaccine Clinic for 7th and 12th grade students will be held on September 10 at Riverdale School. It will be open from 1:00 until 3:00 pm, and parents are not required to be present. West Ohio Food Bank is seeking donations in its quest to serve 19,990 children annually through their School Pantry and Backpack Programs. The food bank serves residents in an 11-county area, which includes Hardin. Your gift now will help ensure that kids and families have access to nutritious food. Obituary for Patricia (Patti) Ann Yates

Patricia (Patti) Ann Yates, 78 of rural Forest was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday August 18, 2026. Born on May 24, 1948 in Kenton, Ohio, she was the oldest child of the late Dale and Mary Jane (Cockrell) Conover. Patti was a 1966 graduate of Kenton High School. Patti worked at Whirlpool Corporation Findlay where she held multiple positions before retirement. She married Paul Darius Yates in 2000, and he preceded her in death on October 31, 2024. […]
