Kenton Middle School Enforces New Rules on Fidgets and Markers

Parents/guardians of students at Kenton Middle School were informed about recent changes that were needed to address issues that have arisen.  First, fidgets, in general, will no longer be permitted at school.  These can take many forms such as foam or gel objects, toy cars or skateboards, stuffed animals, and more.  School officials said that these items are becoming a greater distraction in the classrooms and outweigh any benefits, actual or perceived.  Any exceptions would need to be approved by […]

Alger Water Shut-Offs Scheduled for Tomorrow; Payment Due Today

The Village of Alger Water shut-offs in the Village of Alger have been rescheduled to tomorrow. That is because February had only 28 days and their normal disconnection date falls on the 30th. To avoid interruption of water service and a $50 shut-off fee, residents must pay past-due balances no later than 5pm today. Residents can contact the Village Office if they have questions or need assistance.

Quality Assurance Training Dates Announced for Hardin County 4-H and FFA Exhibitors

Ohio State University Extension - Hardin County Ohio State University Extension- Hardin County announced dates for Quality Assurance Training. It is required for all 4-H and FFA market and dairy projects to show at the Hardin County Fair. Training dates are March 8 at 5pm, April 26 at 1pm and May 27 at 7pm. All trainings are in the Community Building on the Hardin County Fairgrounds. No registration is required.

Jury Trial Scheduled for Roundhead Man Indicted on 18 Counts

After a continuance was granted last month, a new trial date has been set for a Roundhead man who is facing multiple drug related charges. 36-year-old Damon Kaiser, who was wanted on numerous felony warrants, was arrested in April of 2025 following a pursuit that started in Hardin County and ended on Reservoir Road just outside Lima. Two Killed in Head-On Crash on U.S. 68 Near Dunkirk

Two people were killed in a head-on crash that was reported to 911 at 5:49 Monday evening on US 68 near State Route 701 south of Dunkirk. According to a release from the Hardin County Sheriff's Office, 66-year-old Dori Spencer, of Dunkirk, was driving north on 68 when she traveled left of center. Brewie Moore, age 86, of Alger, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Cridersville Care Center.  He was born on June 29, 1939 in Wayland, Kentucky to the late Tom E. and Virgie (Mosley) Moore.  On December 31, 1993 Brewie married Margaret Campbell and she survives in Alger.  He was previously married to Viola Lamb.   Also surviving are his four children: Tom Moore of Marion, Diana (Dave) Higgins of New Albany, Lisa (Matt) Leonard of Newcomerstown and Jason […]
