KENTON-Hardin Co. Soroptimist International announced the Club 250 winner for week 12.   Cheryl Fouts will receive $100.   Club 250 is a fundraiser that helps to award scholarships to local women and girls.

West Mansfield Man Arrested for Domestic Incident

A Logan County domestic disturbance incident over the weekend landed a West Mansfield man in jail.   WPKO Radio reported that 40 year old Erik Engstrom is alleged to have thrown a bag of cat litter that struck a minor.   Engstrom told deputies he had been drinking for some time and became upset because he thought the minor stole his cigarettes.   He was arrested on a charge of assault and transported to the Logan County Jail.

University of Findlay Mourning Loss of Pharmacy Professor

The University of Findlay community is mourning the loss of beloved pharmacy professor Bradley W. Shinn, Pharm.D. He passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at his home. Dr. Shinn was a Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the University, and had been a part of the College of Pharmacy since its inception in 2007. Gas Prices Edging Higher This Week

The average price for a gallon of gas in Hardin County increased another 2 cents a gallon this week.   AAA reported the average price for a gallon of regular grade gas was $2.13 today, up from last Monday's $2.11, but that was still the cheapest price in our region.   The most expensive is in Union County at $2.28 a gallon.   The statewide average is at $2.24 a gallon, and the nationwide average stands at $2.32 a gallon.

Kenton Wrestlers Finish 8th at Weekend Meet

Kenton High School Coed Varsity Wrestling finishes 8th place at Wapakoneta High School. KHS wrestling placed 3 wrestlers on the podium on their way to the 8th place team finish. Noah Eikenbary after finishing in 2nd in 2018 and 4th in 2017 joins a short list of Kenton wrestlers from Kenton to win a WBL Championship in recent history. Allen East Wins NWC Wrestling Championship

Allen East scored a total of 296.5 points to take the 2019 Northwest Conference Wrestling Championship held at Allen East High School. Bluffton finished second in the tournament with 270 points while Columbus Grove took third at 216 points. Repeating as conference champs for the third year in a row, Allen East's title was their eight overall NWC wrestling championship. Government Offices Closed for President’s Day

Today is President's Day.   It was originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington, but the holiday became known as Presidents Day after it was moved as part of 1971's Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to create more three-day weekends for the nation's workers.   Government offices are closed as are most financial institutions. Ada Teenager Suffers Minor Injury in Crash

An Ada teenager escaped with minor injuries after his vehicle slid on the ice and struck a tree Sunday afternoon.   According to the Ada Police Department report, 17 year old Kyle Zimmerly was driving south on Gilbert Street, and his vehicle slid on the ice and struck a sign and a tree before coming to rest.   Heavy damage occurred to the vehicle, and Zimmerly was treated at the scene for a small cut above his eye.

Car Slides into Sign Sunday Evening

A car was damaged after it slid on the ice and struck a stop sign Sunday evening in Kenton.   According to the report from the Kenton Police Department, 50 year old Vonda Perkins, of Kenton, attempted to make a right turn from Espy Street onto Robinson Avenue, and the car slid on the ice and struck the sign knocking it over.   Moderate damage occurred to the car.   Perkins was not injured.
