Elwood School Joining Blanchard Valley Conference

A Wood County school is leaving the Northern Buckeye Conference and joining the Blanchard Valley Conference. The Board of Education at Elmwood Local Schools voted at its meeting this week to make the move. The Royals move to the BVC will be effective with the 2023-24 school year if not sooner. The school announced that the move will allow games against teams of similar size to Elmwood. After being off sixteen days, the Kenton Lady Wildcats returned to action on Monday Night. It was senior night for the 8 players who were playing their final regular season game at home. The Ridgemont Lady Gophers edged the Riverdale Lady Falcons in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon 45-44. Tiffin Columbian Defeats Kenton in Boys Basketball

The Tiffin Columbian Torandoes held off the Kenton Wildcats 64-51 in boys basketball action Saturday. Five players scored at least eight points for Tiffin Columbian, led by Logan Beaston's game-high 21 points. Tiffin Columbian (16-3) also got 14 points from L.J. Reaves and 12 markers from Cyrus Burden. Kenton (0-13) was led by Jayden Cornell, who scored 20 points, and Gavin Payne, who added 11 points. Cornell and Payne were named the Ace Hardware Players of the Game.

Kenton Wrestling Team Places 8th in Weekend WBL Championships

The Kenton Wrestling team travelled to Defiance for the Western Buckeye League Championships this past Saturday. Kenton scored a total of 41.0 points to placed eighth at the tournament ahead of Ottawa-Glandorf and Lima Bath. St. Mary's finished on top with a total of 203.5 points. It was a battle of top ranked teams in the Northwest Central Conference on Thursday night as Ridgemont Lady Gophers traveled to Waynesfield totake on the Tigers.
