Kenton Middle School Wrestling Team Wins Home Opener Against Elida

Eli Kauble sealed up a victory for the middle school wrestling team over the visiting Elida Bulldogs by pinning T. Dally in just thirty seconds in the last match of the meet at 245 lbs. Kenton Lady Cats Basketball Team Loses Hard Fought Game to Elida

Kenton came out on the short end of a tough battle with Elida Thursday evening in girls basketball action. The Lady Cats lost 54-50. The Cats were led in scoring by Sidney Plott with 20 points and six 3 point baskets. Lindsey Smith had 14 points while Jenna Manns had 9 and Kenzie Bays had 7. Elida was led by Amira Freeman with 24 points. Addison Freeman had 13 and Brooke Reese had 11.

Ada Rallies Past HN 36-31

The Ada Bulldogs rallied from a seven-point third-quarter deficit to defeat Hardin Northern 36-31 in girls basketball play Tuesday. The Polar Bears (0-4) led 23-16 early in the third quarter, but the Bulldogs (1-1) outscored HN 20-8 the rest of the way to snag the win. Courtney Sumner had 13 points to lead Ada while Kirsten Poling and Miranda Wills scored eight points each. Three Kenton Football Players Receive All Ohio Honors

The Division IV and V football All-Ohio teams were announced Monday by a statewide media panel. The teams were selected by members of the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association. Kenton's Luke Fackler (6-2, 190 Senior) was selected as First Team Defense for Linebackers. Quarterback Blain Houston (6-0 179 Junior) and Wide Receiver Jayden Cornell (5-10 170 Junior) made Second Team Offense The Ohio Mr. Football Award will be announced Wednesday.

Eagles Race Past Cats 60-44

A strong Colonel Crawford team raced past the Kenton Wildcats 60-44 in boys basketball play Saturday. After a nip-and-tuck first period, the Eagles (2-0) outscored Kenton 22-12 in the second quarter to take control of the game. Despite several spurts from the Wildcats in the second half, the Eagles were able to maintain a manageable lead throughout the final two quarters and post the victory. Balanced Scoring Leads Kenton Past Raiders

The Kenton Lady Wildcats used balanced scoring to defeat the Benjamin Logan Raiders 62-51 Saturday afternoon. Kenton (2-0) got 14 points each from Jenna Manns and Makenzie Bays while Lindsey Smith scored 11 points and Sidney Plott added nine points. Overall, eight Lady Wildcats scored in the victory. Manns grabbed seven rebounds for Kenton while Bays and Hannah Holland snagged six misses each and Smith finished with five caroms.

Riverdale Gets First Win, Beats Polar Bears 45-33

The Riverdale girls basketball team notched its first win of the season, defeating Hardin Northern 45-33 Monday at Riverdale. The Falcons (1-1) placed three players in double figures, led by Hanna Breidenbach's 12 points. Danielle Searfoss and Carrigan Vent added 11 points apiece. The Polar Bears (0-2) were led by Maddie Grappy, who scored a game-high 19 points.

The Rams (1-1) got a game-high 18 points from Reagan Ward while Jenna Kurtz scored 10 points and Julia Gottfried finished with 9 points. The Falcons (0-1) were led by Payton Rodriguez, who scored 10 points, and Carrigan Vent, who added 9 markers.
