Findlay Church Expands Free Store Hours

In response to the program’s increasing success, Connections Church in Findlay has opted to expand their free store’s hours beginning Monday, February 1. New Management at ONU Inn

Monday, January 18, marks the beginning of Waterford Hotel Group’s management of The Inn at Ohio Northern University. Connecticut-based Waterford Hotel Group currently manages 36 hotels in nine states, including on-campus facilities at Amherst, Williams, and Gettysburg Colleges. Current Ohio Waterford Hotel Group properties include a Westin in Columbus and a Comfort Inn in Piqua. ONU will maintain sole ownership of The Inn, which opened in 2008.

ONU Celebrates MLK Day

In commemoration of the 52nd anniversary of his speech at their campus, Ohio Northern University will observe Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr., Day with a series of discussions and events centering around civil rights. HCSO Announces New App

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office hopes their new mobile application will improve residents’ access to their services. A post on the office’s Facebook page announces the unveiling of the app, which features information on fugitives, jail inmates, and sex offenders, as well as a section for the submission of tips. Residents may download the app from Google Play or the App Store by searching “Hardin County Sheriff OH.”

Findlay Police Investigate Possible Gunshots

Findlay Police continue to investigate a Saturday-morning incident. Reports state officers were called to the intersection of Park and First Streets around 1:30 Saturday morning on suspicion of gunshots in the area.  Initial searches of the area and interviews with nearby residents did not produce any victims or suspects. Anyone with information on this incident is advised to contact the Findlay Police Department.

The United Way of Auglaize County will partner with the West Ohio Food Bank for a no-touch drive-thru food distribution Friday, January 15. Marion County Sheriff’s Office Hiring

Two positions are available at the Marion County Sheriff's Office. Applicants age 21 and over with a high-school diploma or equivalent and an active OPOTA Ohio Peace Officer certificate are encouraged to apply for the full-time road patrol Deputy Sheriff position. Candidates age 18 and over with a high-school diploma or equivalency may apply for the Communications Officer position. Central-Ohio Owl Research Ongoing

Dr. Blake Mathys of Ohio Dominican University has undertaken a search for owls wintering across Ohio. Dr. Mathys, a Union County resident, asks the public to search local evergreen trees, barns, garages, and silos (among other locations) for owls, and to submit any findings anonymously through the link on ohiodominican.edu/OwlProject.
