The 2026 Allen County Fair in Lima is heading into the home stretch. Lots of activities are on the schedule today, and that includes the Demolition Derby in the grandstand starting at 7:00 this evening. Saturday in the last day to take in the fair this year. Gates open at 7:00 Saturday morning, and rides open at noon. America 250th Celebration fireworks will begin at dusk on Saturday. The 117th Allen County closes at 11:00 Saturday night.
The Ada Chamber of Commerce Harvest and Herb Parade Committee invites you to participate in this year’s Parade. Parade entry forms need to be submitted by September 5. It will start at 10am on Saturday September 19, and line-up will be one hour prior. The Senior Medicare Patrol is warning older adults about a new scam involving nutritional shakes. Scammers are offering "free" nutritional drinks at senior living facilities, public fairs, and even grocery stores in exchange for Medicare numbers. The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced today that troopers will conduct an OVI checkpoint in Auglaize County tomorrow evening. The exact location of the checkpoint will be announced Saturday morning. Funded by federal grant funds, the checkpoint is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

Kenton Police Department The Kenton Police Department and Hardin County Sheriff's Office are holding a Cops and Bobbers youth fishing day this Sunday, August 30. It will take place from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at France Lake in Kenton. Youth under 18 do not need a fishing license, and children must be accompanied by an adult the entire time. You can bring your own fishing gear and bait, but they will be supplied if you don't have them.
