The Hardin County Board of Elections announced that the Ohio Secretary of State has launched a statewide training institute for potential candidates or existing elected officials who would like further information. The sessions include, ow to run for office, how to file, campaign finance for candidates and how Ohio's elections work. Information on the training can be found on the ohiosos.gov website.
Marion Palace Theatre The Marion Palace Chorus returns for the 2026–27 season on Sunday, September 13, and registration is now open. No previous choral experience is necessary. This is for ages 12 and up. After beginning September 13, rehearsals will continue every other Sunday from 6 until 8pm The cost is $40 for the season, which includes music and materials. Abundant Life Boutique Abundant Life Boutique is in need of clothing donations. They are looking for all sizes of children's clothing, men’s jeans and men’s t-shirts. Donations can be dropped off at the boutique, located at 409 Madison Street in Kenton Wednesday, September 9 from 4:00-7:00 pm and at Salon 67 anytime. To ensure the items can be given to the community, please only drop off donations at the boutique during that time.
Revitalize Kenton: a community partnership Reservations are being accepted for Cleveland Keys Dueling Pianos Keys of a Cause on November 7. An almost total lunar eclipse will be visible Thursday night, and the good news is skies are forecast to be mostly clear around Hardin County. The eclipse officially starts at 10:33 Thursday evening, reaches its maximum peak at 12:12 and ends at just after 3:00 Friday morning. The Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance announced that a ribbon cutting ceremony for Black's Shady Knoll Orchard will be held Tuesday, September 15. It will start at 1:00 pm at 19484 State Route 31 in Mount Victory. The ribbon cutting is being held to celebrate the Grand Opening of their new facility.

A Lima police cruiser was involved in a crash that occurred Tuesday evening at the intersection of West Wayne and Collet Streets in that city. According to the report, 56-year-old Marie Myril, of Lima, drove from a stop sign on Collett onto Wayne, and her vehicle struck the cruiser in the intersection. Disabling damage occurred to both vehicles, but there were no injuries. Myril was cited for a stop sign violation.
Ray Grogan Marion County Prosecutor's Office On Monday, the Third District Court of Appeals affirmed the murder conviction and sentence of Jerry Lee Cooper. According to information from Marion Prosecutor Ray Grogan's Office, the appellate court rejected Cooper’s claim that the jury’s verdict was against the manifest weight of the evidence and upheld the judgment of the trial court.
