High Wind Warning Expires at 10 Sunday Night

High winds blew through the area Sunday. A high wind warning is in effect until 10 Sunday night. During the day, sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles an hour was reported. There was an occasional higher gust of up to 65 miles an hour. Scattered power outages occurred, at one time taking WKTN off the air when the electric went out at the transmitter site. Fire Destroys House in Kenton

Kenton firefighters battled very high winds in a house fire that occurred Sunday morning in Kenton. Firefighters were dispatched to 1022 West North Street. Upon arrival, smoke and flames were visible pouring from the residence. Three adults made it out safe. The American Red Cross provided assistance to the residents. The cause has not yet been determined, and the fire remains under investigation. Firefighters were on the scene for several hours.

Plain City Woman Charged with OVI Following Crash

A Plain City woman was arrested following a crash in Union County Thursday.   According to the daily media release from the Union County Sheriff's office, deputies were dispatched to the 11,000 block of Lafayette-Plain City Road to investigate the crash.   A car driven by 34 year old Audra J. Pickett ended up off the road and struck a utility pole.   Pickett was not injured.   She was arrested and cited for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Hardin Leadership 2019 Class Taking Applications

Applications are also being accepted for the 2019 Hardin Leadership Class.   The applications are available at each of the libraries around the county and the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance.   The registration deadline is March 6.   The class is limited to 24 participants, and there are several sponsorships available for those persons who would  self-pay and not sponsored by an employer or organization.

Average Private Employer Workers’ Comp Rates to Drop 20 Percent

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) Board of Directors today approved a 20 percent reduction in the average premium rate it collects from private employers. Law Enforcement in Hancock County Holding Coffee with a Cop

The Findlay Police Department and Hancock County Sheriff's Office are hosting a Coffee with a Cop event tomorrow.   The event will be held from 9-11 Saturday morning at Coffee Amici located at 330 South Main Street in Findlay.   There is no agenda or speeches, but is billed as a chance to just ask questions, voice concerns and get to know law enforcement officers in Findlay and Hancock County.

USV Edges Kenton in Boys Basketball Action

Upper Scioto Valley defeated Kenton 51 to 47 in non-league boys basketball play Thursday at Kenton High School. The Rams conclude their regular season with at 17 and 5 mark. The Wildcats are now 13 and 8 and will host Bath this evening in Western Buckeye League play. WKTN will carry the game live, with the pregame show starting around 7:30 p.m.

Cross Feels Gov. DeWine’s Gas Tax Increase Proposal is Too High
