Several students from Hardin Northern had a chance to honor veterans on Thursday. The History Brigade was joined by a small group of very tired but devoted 8th graders as they placed flags on graves honoring local veterans for Memorial Day. City of Lima officials announced the newest addition to that city’s recreational facilities. The Lima Fitness Court is located along the Ottawa River Bikeway, between Main and Elizabeth Streets, south of the YMCA in Lima. Hardin County – For the period of April 15-30, Extension rainfall reporters recorded an average of 1.78 inches of rain in Hardin County. Last year, the average rainfall for the same period was 1.72 inches. Rainfall for the April 15-30 period is 0.12 inches less than the ten-year average rainfall during the same dates. The City of Kenton will receive a grant through the Ohio Department of Development’s Brightening Ohio Communities Grant Program. State officials announced that a total of $3.1 million in grants have been awarded to support sustainable, long-term cost and energy savings for towns around the state. The City of Kenton will receive just over $345,700 to replace 68 streetlights with LED lighting. The project will yield an annual utility savings of 68 percent. Kenton Middle School will participate in a student-designed day called Choose Hope on Tuesday May 21. This is a field day of activities that starts and ends with a ceremony to honor loved ones who have battled or are battling cancer. LifeWise Academy announced that it is expanding into the Kenton City Schools fourth grade for the 2024-2025 school year and enrollment is now open. Anyone entering kindergarten through fourth grade next year who is not currently enrolled may enroll now. First through fourth grade will begin in August. Kindergarten will begin in January.
