Abatement of B and C Buildings at KHS Complete, Underway at Old KMS; Demolition to Follow

The process to raze the old Kenton Middle School and the B and C Buildings of the Kenton High School is underway. The abatement of B & C Buildings is complete and went well. The construction team is working on disconnecting utilities, and they expect heavy equipment to move in starting next week, and demolition to begin shortly thereafter. On 03-05-2026 at 1027 hours the Findlay Police Department responded to 1322 Glenhaven Drive apartment G for a trespassing in progress call. The caller reported that Sonny Flugga (22 years old of Findlay, Ohio) was in her apartment and refusing to leave. Sonny is former romantic partner of the caller. (GoBus on Detroit Street in Kenton today) A new GoBus stop coming to Kenton as part of a major network expansion launched today. Kenton will be a stop on the new Red Line, which connects Toledo and Cincinnati. According to the GoBus website, the stop in Kenton is at 925 North Detroit Street. Two Killed in House Fire Sunday Night in Wapakoneta

Two people were killed in a fire that occurred in Wapakoneta Sunday night. According to a release from Wapakoneta Fire and EMS, firefighters were dispatched at around 10:15 Sunday night to 409 Park Street. Upon arrival, firefighters began battling the blaze and conducted search operations. Two victims were located inside. City of Findlay Provides Recommendations Related to Avian Influenza Protocols

February 26, 2026-Findlay, Ohio — Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI)(Bird Flu) has been confirmed in deceased birds in the City of Findlay. HN Board of Education Accepts Resignation of Superintendent Cano

Hardin Northern School's superintendent has resigned from that position. At this week's Board of Education meeting, board members voted to accept the resignation of Andrew Cano. He was hired in 2023. Prior to becoming superintendent, he served as High School Principal and has been involved with the district's athletic programs, including assistant coach. Cano's resignation is effective July 31, 2026.

Electric Aggregation Agreement and Utility Rate Adjustments Announced at Kenton City Council Meeting

Kenton City Council conducted its 4th regular session of the year Monday evening. During the meeting, Safety Service Director Cindy Murray announced a utility rate increase. She said the Utility Board agreed to approve a 3% increase that is part of legislation. She said that will take effect March 1, 2026, but residents won't see it until the May bill comes out.
