The Volunteer of the Year was presented to Chad Rudesill, Educational Partner of the Year went to Hardin Northern Local Schools, Business of the Year was Ohio Northern University and Honorary Chair was Dr. Melissa J. Baumann. 13 agencies were also awarded with United Way funding for 2025-26.

Several BKP Ambulance District crew members were presented with awards last week during EMS week. Paige Hartman and Kyle Richards were awarded St. Rita’s Medical Center Stroke Run of the Year. BKP Chief Chad Smith was included in the Trauma Run of the Year award. He was on his way home from work, and he stopped to assist Cairo EMS that was on a call at the time.

Greenwood Grange will hold their Annual Strawberry Social Tuesday, June 3. It will run from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at the Grange Hall, located on State Route 53 in Grant, between Kenton and Forest. The menu consists of Shredded Chicken and Sloppy Joe’s, Chicken and Noodles, Homemade Salads, and Desserts, including Strawberry Shortcake and Pie. Photo: Indian Lake State Park The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is making it easier to stay safe on the water this summer. They have installed life jacket loaner stations at 32 Ohio state parks. That includes one at Indian Lake. The station offers free access to life jackets from sizes infant to adult. At Indian lake, the station is located beside the campground boat ramp. The loaner station was built by the Indian Lake State Park's maintenance crew.
A Russells Point man was arrested Monday after the Washington Township Police Department was made aware of an individual taking photographs of children during the parade that they felt were inappropriate. According to a release, 63-year-old Terry Davis was approached by officers and admitted that he did have photographs on his cell phone that were taken during the parade.
