Four Hardin Northern Students Score High on American Legion Government Test

Four Hardin Northern students were recognized for their performance on the American Legion Americanism and Government Test program for high school students across the state.  The local test is sponsored by American Legion Post 185 in Ada. House Bill 68 would protect Ohio jobs, keep construction projects moving forward across the state COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jon Cross (R-Kenton) today announced the Ohio House of Representatives has approved House Bill 68, his bipartisan legislation that ensures prime contractors are paid promptly and construction projects can move forward across the State of Ohio. One Person Treated for Minor Injuries After Wednesday Night Crash in Kenton

A driver was treated for minor injuries in a crash that occurred around 8:50 Wednesday night at the intersection of east Forest Road and Silver Street in Kenton. According to the report from the Kenton Police Department, 42 year old Erick Grasley, of Kenton, was at the stop sign on Silver waiting to turn onto East Forest Road. Motorcycle Operator Escapes Injury in Upper Sandusky Accident

A Findlay man escaped injury in a motorcycle accident that occurred in Upper Sandusky at around noon on Wednesday. According to the Upper Sandusky Police Department report, 32 year old Jarid Franz was traveling south in the 200 block of South Sandusky Avenue when the brakes locked up. Franz put the motorcycle on its side, and it slid into a parked unoccupied vehicle resulting in light damage. No citations were listed on the report.

Juvenile Facing Charges Following Theft Investigation at Walmart

A juvenile was arrested after Kenton Police were dispatched to Walmart Wednesday afternoon concerning  theft at the store. A traffic stop was conducted at Forest Court Apartments in connection to the investigation. Charges against the juvenile include possession of drugs, offenses involving underage persons, failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, no operator's license and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia. The incident remains under investigation.

Traffic Stop in Marion Leads to the Arrest of a Man on Felony Warrants

A man who was wanted on two felony warrants was arrested in Marion County on Wednesday. The Marion County Sheriff's Office, assisted by Marmet and the Marion Police Department conducted a traffic stop and located Jason Smith inside the vehicle. Also found in the car was a loaded handgun and 7.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine.  Smith will also face charges of possession of methamphetamine, carrying a concealed weapon and weapons under disability.

Ada School Report a Successful Read-a-Thon in April

The Ada Schools April Read-a-Thon was a huge success.   During the month of April, the Kindergarten-2nd grade classes read a total of 5,147 books and the 3rd-5th graders read a total of 266,199 pages.   Along with all of the reading, the Bulldogs also collected pledges and food for the Ada Food Pantry.   They collected a total of 947 food items and just over $8,100.

Coffee with a Cop Scheduled for May 22 in Findlay

Law enforcement agencies in Hancock County are coming together for another Coffee with a Cop event. It is scheduled for this Saturday morning May 22 from 9-11 at Coffee Amici in downtown Findlay. There is no agenda or speeches, as it is a chance to ask questions, voice concerns and get to know officers in the area. The Findlay Police Department and Hancock County Sheriff's Office are participating.

A Picnic with Our Ancestors Planned at Grove Cemetery this Summer

The Hardin County Historical Museums are planning an event called A Picnic with Our Ancestors this summer. The event will take place July 6, and will feature a picnic at Grove Cemetery.
