Harrod Pork Rind Festival Taking Place This Weekend

The 2019 Harrod Pork Rind Heritage Festival is set to take place this Friday and Saturday June 7 and 8.   Numerous all day activities will place, including lazer tag, pony rides, a dunk tank and bounce houses. Soroptimist Planning Nothing But Country Fundraiser

Kenton/Hardin County Soroptimist is planning a Nothing But Country Dinner and Dance Fundraiser next month.   The event is planned for Saturday June 22 at the Kenton Moose Lodge.   A bbq dinner will be catered by the Plaza Inn.   Country music, a quilt raffle and silent auction will also be featured.   For tickets, email sikenton@soroptimist.net.

Worker Finds Stolen Rifle Along Banks of Scioto River

A worker mowing grass for the city of Kenton found a rifle Tuesday along the bank of the Scioto River near Wharton Park.   According to the report from the Kenton Police Department, the rifle was in poor shape and appeared to have been out in the weather for a long period of time.   The gun had been reported stolen and was returned to the rightful owner.

Criminal Damaging Reported to KPD Tuesday

A criminal damaging incident was reported to Kenton police on Tuesday.   According to the report, a resident in the 400 block of East Franklin Street told officers that someone kicked in his back door while he slept inside.   The suspect kicked in the rear door causing a dent in the door and the wood frame split.   Entry was not believed to have been made inside the residence.   The incident is under investigation.

Field Work Has Started in Some Parts of Hardin County

Field work has begun in some parts of Hardin County as conditions allow.     Corn is up in the Hog Creek Marsh and in the Scioto Marsh as well.     There were also some fields being sprayed and tilled around the county in areas that had less rain and good drainage.     According to the USDA Crop Weather Report that came out yesterday, Ohio is now at 33% corn planted with 18% emerged and 18% soybeans planted […]

Free Lunch Program Underway in Mt. Blanchard

A free lunch program will start this summer in Mt. Blanchard.   WFIN Radio reported that the Wednesday Kids Lunches program gets started today in the fellowship hall of the Mt. Blanchard United Methodist Church.   The meals will be served through August 7 from 11:30am until noon.   The Hancock Park District will present a nature program at Island Park following lunch on June 19th and July 24th. Kenton Woman Arrested on Warrant From Union County

A Kenton woman was arrested this week on a Union County warrant.   According to the Daily Media Release from the Union County Sheriff's Office, a deputy with a Hardin County Sheriff's deputy and took custody of 33 year old Billie J. Orich on an outstanding warrant.   She was transported to the Tri County Regional Jail.

Solicitation Permit Issued in Forest Next Week

A solicitation permit was issued in Forest.   A solicitor from Spectrum will be in the village next week and will be driving a black 2009 Scion with Ohio license plates.   Residents are reminded to protect their personal information, be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious information to the Forest Police Department or Hardin County Sheriff's Office at 419-273-2552.

Flag City Scavenger Hunt Coming to Findlay
