Plain City Woman Charged with OVI Following Crash

A Plain City woman was arrested following a crash in Union County Thursday.   According to the daily media release from the Union County Sheriff's office, deputies were dispatched to the 11,000 block of Lafayette-Plain City Road to investigate the crash.   A car driven by 34 year old Audra J. Pickett ended up off the road and struck a utility pole.   Pickett was not injured.   She was arrested and cited for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Hardin Leadership 2019 Class Taking Applications

Applications are also being accepted for the 2019 Hardin Leadership Class.   The applications are available at each of the libraries around the county and the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance.   The registration deadline is March 6.   The class is limited to 24 participants, and there are several sponsorships available for those persons who would  self-pay and not sponsored by an employer or organization.

Average Private Employer Workers’ Comp Rates to Drop 20 Percent

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) Board of Directors today approved a 20 percent reduction in the average premium rate it collects from private employers. Law Enforcement in Hancock County Holding Coffee with a Cop

The Findlay Police Department and Hancock County Sheriff's Office are hosting a Coffee with a Cop event tomorrow.   The event will be held from 9-11 Saturday morning at Coffee Amici located at 330 South Main Street in Findlay.   There is no agenda or speeches, but is billed as a chance to just ask questions, voice concerns and get to know law enforcement officers in Findlay and Hancock County.

Cross Feels Gov. DeWine’s Gas Tax Increase Proposal is Too High

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine says he will ask lawmakers to approve an 18-cent per gallon increase in the state’s gasoline tax, which currently stands at 28-cents.   An 18-cent increase would raise $1.2 billion a year.   83rd District State Representative Jon Cross told WKTN’s Chad Spencer this morning that he feels that amount is too high.   While he said it would be great not to raise it at all, he would be more in favor of a 10 […]

Mechanicsburg Man Placed on Community Control on Drug Charge

A Mechanicsburg man was sentenced recently in Hardin County Common Pleas Court.   According to the document from Prosecutor Brad Bailey's Office, 24 year old Jerrod A. Thomas was placed on five years community control, with conditions on one count each of possession of drugs and possessing drug abuse instruments.   The case was heard by Judge Scott Barrett.

Suspect Facing Assault Charge Following Fight in Findlay

A fight in the 1000 block of Cedar Avenue in Findlay, during which a gun was fired, was reported to the Findlay Police Department late this past Wednesday night.   According to a release, officers arrived and located the victim of the assault and several witnesses.   As part of the investigation, search warrants were executed at a residence on Cedar Avenue and at the Super 8 motel on Broad Avenue.   At the motel, the alleged shooter was located […]

Driver Escapes Injury in Semi Rollover Crash

A Mississippi man was involved in a semi rollover crash Thursday in Wyandot County.   According to the report from the Wyandot County Sheriff's Office, a semi being operated west on U.S. 30 by 22 year old Jordon Brown ran off the left side of the road and overturned.   The semi came to rest after sliding on its driver's side back on the road.   Brown was not injured.   He was cited for failure to control.

Items Stolen from Vehicle Parked in Kenton

A vehicle parked in the 400 block of Gilmore Street in Kenton was ransacked and some items were stolen.   The incident was reported to Kenton police Thursday morning, and according to the report, prescription medication and a small amount of money were stolen.   The report did not indicate whether the car doors were locked or unlocked at the time.   The incident remains under investigation.
