With the extreme heat, Rumpke Waste and Recycling crews may begin collection routes earlier than usual this week. That is to help protect essential workers. To avoid missing your pickup, you should place your trash and recycling bins at the curb the night before your scheduled collection day.
Meijer in Lima was temporarily closed Monday evening after shots were fired at the store. According to a release, Allen County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to store on Elida Road at around 4:10 Monday afternoon, and the scene was secured. No suspects are in custody at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

Kenton City Schools will observe a no-activity period from Wednesday, July 1 through Tuesday, July 7. The purpose of the no-activity period is to allow families to plan summer vacations and activities. During the period, practices, open gyms, camps, and other events will not be held.

It's day number two for the Marion County Fair. Daily admission is $10 for 11 and over and free for 10 and under. Children 15 and under must be accompanied by a paid adult. Harness Racing and Tough Truck competition are featured in the in the grandstand today. The fair runs through this Saturday, July 4 at the fairgrounds in Marion.
