Fatal Crash in Hancock County Under Investigation

On March 19th, 2026 at 10:04 pm, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office received a call of an injury crash on State Route 186, south of County Road 97 in Hancock County.  A 2018 Kia Forte, driven by Paul Leader, age 51, of Findlay Ohio, was traveling south on State Route 186.  A 2015 Hyundai Velostar, driven by Shelby Freed, age 23, of McComb Ohio, was traveling north on State Route 186.  Mr. Leader’s vehicle traveled left of center and struck […]

Mt. Victory Man Sentenced on Tampering Charges After Acquittal on Serious Counts

A Mt. Victory man was sentenced Thursday afternoon on two counts of tampering with evidence. Andrew McCafferty was placed on five-year community control, with conditions. He must serve 180 days of local incarceration but was granted 129 days for time served. McCafferty must report to the Multi-County Correctional Center in Marion, beginning March 23, and he was granted work release upon filing an approved Work Release Contract. America is preparing to celebrate its 250th birthday this 4th of July, and plans are being made for some special events as part of Hardin Freedom Fest activities.
