The Kenton Lady Wildcats used balanced scoring to defeat the Benjamin Logan Raiders 62-51 Saturday afternoon. Kenton (2-0) got 14 points each from Jenna Manns and Makenzie Bays while Lindsey Smith scored 11 points and Sidney Plott added nine points. Overall, eight Lady Wildcats scored in the victory. Manns grabbed seven rebounds for Kenton while Bays and Hannah Holland snagged six misses each and Smith finished with five caroms.
The Riverdale girls basketball team notched its first win of the season, defeating Hardin Northern 45-33 Monday at Riverdale. The Falcons (1-1) placed three players in double figures, led by Hanna Breidenbach's 12 points. Danielle Searfoss and Carrigan Vent added 11 points apiece. The Polar Bears (0-2) were led by Maddie Grappy, who scored a game-high 19 points.
Upper Sandusky defeated Riverdale 52-38 in girls basketball play Saturday at The Falcons' Nest. The Rams (1-1) got a game-high 18 points from Reagan Ward while Jenna Kurtz scored 10 points and Julia Gottfried finished with 9 points. The Falcons (0-1) were led by Payton Rodriguez, who scored 10 points, and Carrigan Vent, who added 9 markers.
Arlington girls basketball player Kylie Sheets will continue her career at Bluffton University. She signed on Thursday. Family, friends, coaches and others present to congratulate her and wish her well.
The Hardin Northern fall sports awards has been scheduled. It will start at 6:00pm on Wednesday, December 4th in the high school gym. The awards will be high school only and will include football, volleyball, cross country and cheerleading. All athletes should dress appropriately.
Fort Loramie defeated Hardin Northern 61-7 in Division VII, Region 28 quarterfinal action Saturday night. The Redskins have now won 10 straight games and are 10-1. They advance to regional semifinal play next week. The Polar Bears end their season at 8-3.
The Indian Hill Braves defeated the Kenton Wildcats 61-32 in Division IV, Region 16 quarterfinal action Saturday at Robinson Field. The Wildcats (8-3) got 468 yards passing and five touchdown from Blaine Huston, who hooked up for fours scores with Jayden Cornell and hit Landon Rush for the other TD. The Kenton Wildcats begin their postseason journey Saturday night when they host Indian Hill in Division IV, Region 16 quarterfinal competition. The Wildcats, winners of four straight, are the region’s fourth seed. Kenton finished 8 and 2 overall and grabbed a share of the Western Buckeye League title with an 8 and 1 league mark.
