Bluffton Spanish Professor to Provide Insights from Cuba Experience

Emily Buckell, assistant professor of Spanish at Bluffton University, will present the colloquium, “Cuba – Cuban, Caribbean or Latin?,” at 4 p.m. on Friday March 29 in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall.   During the presentation, Buckell will elaborate on her trip to Cuba in July 2018. Busing Options Explored; No Decisions Made

The Kenton City School Board is looking at options to improve busing systems for the district. At last night's Board meeting, Superintendent, Jennifer Penczarski, gave a detailed report on options that are being considered. The plan, that is known as a two-tier busing system that the district is looking at for the 2019-2020 school year. Vendor spaces are available for the Tree Town Festival this summer in Forest.   The cost is $50 per ten by ten foot area for July 12 and 13. 2 Streets in Kenton Closed Most of Today

Two streets in Kenton will be closed most today (Tuesday March 19) as work crews operate in those areas.   According to information from the Kenton Police Department, Wayne Street from North Street to Jennings and Summit Street from Cherry to Main will be closed today while the work is being done.   The exact nature of work and who AWP is contracting with was not specified to the police department.

Car Wash Equipment Damaged by Oversize Vehicle

An oversize vehicle damaged equipment at the Columbus Street Car Wash Monday afternoon.   According to the report from the Kenton Police Department, the owner told officers that the vehicle was too large for the automatic wash bay and the washing tower was damaged as a result.   Video of the incident shows only the vehicle, which was a full sized white van. Woman Accused of Pawning Rented Property

Property belonging to a rent to own business in Kenton was said to have been pawned.   According to that report from the Kenton Police Department, officials from Showplace Rent to Own told officers that a television owned by them and being rented by a Kenton woman, was pawned. The television is valued at $725.   A 37 year old Kenton woman is facing a charge of theft without consent.   The incident remains under investigation.

Road Construction Project Starts in Findlay Next Week

A road construction project in Findlay is scheduled to start March 25.   According to a release from the Ohio Department of Transportation, Logan Avenue, between Lima Avenue and Blaine Street in that city, is expected to close for two months while the street is reconstructed to match the new alignment of Lima Avenue.   The roadway first closed last year, but temporary access was restored through the winter.   The upcoming closure will allow for the final reconstruction of […]
