ACSO Looking to Identify Theft Suspect

The Allen County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau is attempting to identify a male suspect who entered WalMart on Harding Highway earlier this month and appeared to begin looking for different elderly victims in the store in an attempt to steal purses and/or wallets.   At one point the suspect is captured on video stealing the wallet from the purse of a 91 year old female while she was selecting items from a shelf.   The suspect immediately used the victim’s […]

Search of Apartment Uncovers Multiple Drug Items

A Kenton man is facing drug charges after his apartment was searched Thursday afternoon.   According to the report from the Kenton Police Department, officers assisted the Hardin County Probation Office on a search of the apartment at Scioto Village because of suspected drug activity.   Numerous drug paraphernalia items, a bottle containing white capsules with an unknown substance and marijuana were located and seized during the search.   The 32 year old male suspect is facing charges of possession […]

Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charge

A traffic stop led to drug related charges against a Kenton man Thursday evening.   According to the Kenton Police Department report, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 600 block of Silver Street.   48 year old Russell Shinn Jr. was issued a summons for possession of drug paraphernalia. Logan County Grand Jury Indicts Kenton Man

A Kenton man was indicted by a grand jury in Logan County.   According to documents filed in Logan County Common Pleas Court, Bryant Piper was indicted on a felony count of theft.   The alleged offense occurred in November of 2018.   Piper is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon.

March SNAP Benefits to be Issued in Feb and March

SNAP recipients will receive 50% of their March benefits this month, and the other half on the assigned issuance date in March.   The U.S. Department of Agriculture instructed states to make the full February benefits available in January due to the partial government shutdown.   Ohio expects to return to the standard cycle of issuing benefits in April.

New Exhibits Being Added to Museum

The Hardin County Historical Museums is taking the winter off to add new exhibits and refresh others.   Director Sheena Striker said January and February are slower months for the museum, which makes it a perfect time for the closure.   She said they will be back in March with a new scouting exhibit among other changes.     To hear more about the museums, tune in Public Eye Saturday morning at 7:30 and Sunday at noon on WKTN.

Planned Power Outage in Marion County

A planned power outage will affect some residents in Marion County Saturday.   The outage is planned starting at noon Saturday for residents in the Martel area, which is in Tully Township.   American Electric Power will be performing scheduled maintenance, and they hope to have service restored by 5 Saturday evening.
