Riverdale Elementary Yearbooks In

The Riverdale School District announced that elementary yearbooks have arrived. They may be picked up today until 3:00 or from 4:30-5:30 as well as on Thursday from 9:00-3:00 in the elementary office.  Any yearbooks not picked up will be distributed to the student in the fall.

Significant Drop in Fatalities During Memorial Day Weekend

COLUMBUS – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reporting nine deaths on Ohio’s roadways during the 2021 Memorial Day weekend according to provisional statistics. This Memorial Day saw fewer fatalities than last year, when there were 20 traffic deaths during the weekend. Fireworks Display will be Launched in Ada on July 2

A fireworks display will take place in the Village of Ada. The Ada Icon reported the display will happen on Friday, July 2. It is scheduled to start around 9:45 that evening. They will be launched from the Ada baseball field near the Ada park. The fireworks have been approved by the park board, Village Council and an agreement with the fireworks producer.

Exotic Zoo Visited Dunkirk Tuesday; Will be in Ada July 6

The Hardin Northern Public Library hosted the Exotic Zoo Tuesday afternoon. It was held at the park in Dunkirk. If you missed it, you can see the Exotic Zoo on Tuesday July 6. It will start at 11 that morning at Ada War Memorial Park. The Exoctic Zoo is part ofAda Public Library summer reading program. Ada Library Director Rhett Grant said all are welcome at the event.

Increased Number of Thefts from Vehicles Reported in Lima

The Lima Police Department has been experiencing an increased number of thefts from vehicles lately.  The department reminded residents to remove the keys from their vehicle and lock the doors. They should also hide items of value, or remove them from the vehicle. Officials say following those simple tips will help prevent you from becoming a victim. Residents are also encouraged to call 9-1-1 if they see suspicious activity.

Gov. DeWine Signs Coronavirus Pandemic Relief Bill

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine was joined by several members of the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Senate to sign a coronavirus pandemic relief bill.  House Bill 170 provides over $787 million coronavirus relief assistance to Ohio's public and private schools.   Additionally, it provides $173 million to the Ohio Department of Health for COVID-19 testing and vaccine distribution efforts, and $7 million to further support the Ohio National Guard's response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ridgemont Graduation Practice June 2; Graduation Ceremony Scheduled June 4

Ridgemont school graduates are being reminded about graduation week activities. Mandatory graduation practice will be held Wednesday June 2, rain or shine, from 10am until around noon in Ridgeway. Lunch will be served afterwards. The Ridgemont Graduation ceremony is scheduled for Friday June 4 at 7pm. The rain dates are June 5 or 6 with the same start time. Graduates will meet in the Ridgeway gym at 6pm. The gates will open at 5.

After being forced to cancel in 2020, the Tree Town Festival is set to return this year with numerous activities being planned. The event starts with the Festival Parade on July 9.
