Heritage Center Receives 2,500 Dollar Barn Preservation Award

Photo: Hardin County Historical Museums, Inc.: Barb Wingfield The Hardin County Historical Museums Heritage Center is the recipient of the Friends of Ohio Barns $2500 Barn Preservation Award. That will assist them in fixing barn doors. The two big end doors have become very very difficult to open and close. The Heritage Center has a total of 4 buildings and one caboose on the grounds.

Ridgemont FFA Member Earns 10,000 Dollar National Scholarship

Ridgemont FFA There was big news Monday from the Ridgemont FFA chapter. It was announced that Connor Eckstein was the recipient of a $10,000 National FFA Scholarship. He was awarded the FFA Future Leaders 4-Year College Scholarship that is sponsored by Tractor Supply Company.  The achievement is a testament to Eckstein’s hard work, leadership, and dedication to agriculture and his future.

Kenton Memorial Day Parade Set for May 25

The Memorial Day Parade in Kenton, presented by the City of Kenton Government, Kenton Lions Club, Rescue Grove Chapel Committee and Kenton Historic Courthouse District, will take place May 25. Line-up will start at 9:00 a.m. that morning at the Mary Lou Johnson Library parking lot, and the parade moves out at 10:00 a.m. The G.A.R. Auglaize County Sheriff's Office The Auglaize County Sheriff's Office released information Monday on a Grand Lake Task Force investigation from last week. According to a release, the investigation led to a traffic stop on I-75 that resulted in the seizure of approximately 1.5 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, with a street value of $20,000, and $806 in U.S. currency. Revitalize Kenton Event Improves Downtown with Community Help

Revitalize Kenton: a community partnership 24 volunteers showed up this past Saturday for Revitalize Kenton's Downtown Clean-Up Day. They ranged in age from children up to 80 years old volunteers. According to organizers, 70 man hours were invested in the clean-up effort.  The crew worked on the hill in the parking lot by the Kenton Theatre, did some weed eating, worked in the Alltel and Gene Autry Park areas and cleaned up trash. Kenton/Hardin County Soroptimist International Several members of Kenton-Hardin County Soroptimist International were installed on the Midwestern Region Board over the weekend. Ruth Waggoner was Installed as the Governor for the 2026-2028 Biennium.  Serving alongside her on the Board will be Karen Kier Region Secretary, Laura Ferguson as District II Director,  and Maylene Deckling as Region Treasurer.  The Soroptimist International Midwestern Region board held its annual conference over this past weekend in Columbus.
