Softball Tournament - Hardin Northern vs USV 5/21/26 WKTN Sports
Kenton defeated Upper Scioto Valley in a varsity baseball game Tuesday night, fueled by explosive 3rd and 6th innings that brought in 10 runs combined. Despite managing just four hits, the Wildcats kept the pressure on by drawing 12 walks and keeping runners on base throughout the game. Kenton now sits at 5-10 on the season while USV falls to 6-11.
The Kenton Boys Tennis won 4-1 when they traveled to Bucyrus to take on the Redmen Monday night. Garraden Wirbel cruised past Mason Eldridge 6-1, 6-2 at 1st Singles, while Seth Spencer took down Will Kuhn 6-2, 6-0 at 2nd Singles. In a hard-fought match at 3rd Singles, Richard Huang came up short against Rielly Bolster, falling 6-7 (7-9), 6-7 (6-8). Ridgemont standout Mason Howard has signed to continue his football career at The College of Wooster. Howard is the Golden Gopher's career leader in rushing yards, touchdowns, total TDs, and points scored. He also set single-season records for rushing yards, touchdowns, total TDs, and points scored.
The Kenton Boy Tennis team traveled to UNOH for the WBL Tournament Thursday. In 1st singles, Seth Spencer beat Josh Schoen 6-1, 6-4 in round 1. In Round 2, he fell to Jake Ackroyd 1-6, 0-6, sending him to the backdraw where he lost to Noah Compton 1-8. The USV varsity baseball team secured an 18-9 win over Arlington on Thursday night. Wyatt Davis got the start for the Rams and picked up his first varsity win after pitching 3 2/3 innings. At the plate, Jesse Prater was on fire, blasting a home run and driving in five runs. Ryan Roberts, Andrue Kindle, Macain Underwood, and Beau Sanders also chipped in with RBIs. The win moves the Rams to 5-10 on the season.
The USV varsity baseball team faced off against Waynesfield-Goshen on Wednesday, coming out on top with a 13-3 win. The Rams started strong with a six-run first inning and kept control the whole game. Jesse Prater pitched all five innings, giving up just one hit and striking out seven. At the plate, Caiden Lowery and Wyatt Davis led the way driving in three runs. The win moves the Rams’ record to 4-10 overall and 3-4 in the NWCC.

Cory-Rawson defeated Upper Scioto Valley 8-7 in eight innings Monday night in a Northwest Central Conference matchup. Cory-Rawson scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the 8th when Austin Inbody led off with a single. Inbody then stole second and third before scoring on an error. Cory-Rawson was clutch defensively, escaping a bases-loaded and one-out situation in the top of the eighth inning and a bases-loaded two-out situation in the top of the seventh inning. Benjamin Logan High School senior Thomas Smith has officially signed to continue his academic and athletic career at Alfred State College, where he will play football for the Pioneers. Smith, a standout member of the Raider football program, plans to pursue a degree in Welding Technology. He selected Alfred State for its strong team culture and highly regarded welding program.
