Junior Fair Prince and Princess Winners Announced

Twelve contestants participated in the second annual Prince and Princess contest. Children ages 5-8 that registered, had the chance to compete by selling 50/50 raffle tickets. The money from the raffle supports scholarships for the fair King and Queen, as well as their court. This year, a total of $15,070 was collected. Judge Takes Motion Filed by Clapsaddle’s Attorney Under Advisement

A hearing was held this morning in Hardin County Common Pleas Court on a motion filed by the defense attorney for Dustin Clapsaddle to have the jury's verdict reversed or a new trial granted. Clapsaddle was convicted on charges of rape, sexual battery, gross sexual imposition and kidnapping following a four day trial in late June. Water Off in Section of Kenton Due to Water Main Break

This map shows area impacted by water outage and subsequent boil advisory Water is off in an area around downtown Kenton due to a water main break on West Franklin Street. As of right now, the city estimates water service will return at approximately 2 this (Friday) afternoon. There will then be a boil advisory in effect until further notice. Again, that is only for the area affected.

101 Smokehouse Totally Destroyed by Fire

Captain Jason Conley from the Kenton Fire Department said the fire was called in by a passerby, "They noticed smoke coming from the roof, called 9-1-1. We were dispatched for a first alarm structure fire. Arrived on scene, we had heavy smoke and flame coming out of the roof towards the rear of 101 Smokehouse." Crash Occurs on First Day of Traffic Light Study at Intersection in Kenton

The first day for a traffic study at the intersection of Detroit and Ohio Streets in Kenton has not gone well. An accident this (Monday) afternoon that occurred at the intersection involved Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart. The Sheriff was driving north on Detroit when a car pulled into the intersection from the red blinking lights on Ohio. The Sheriff said despite his best efforts, he could not avoid a collision. Accidental Shooting Reported in Forest

An accidental shooting occurred in the Village of Forest this afternoon. The Jackson-Forest EMS squad was dispatched at around 2:30 this afternoon to a residence in the village. Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart said an off-duty deputy was involved. He said the shooting was not work related and the deputies service weapon was not used. Sheriff Everhart said the shooting was accidental. The deputy was transported to the hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.

Attorneys for a former Kenton school teacher have filed a motion seeking acquittal or a new trial for their client. Dustin R. Clapsaddle was found guilty on one count each of rape, sexual battery, gross sexual imposition and kidnapping following a four day jury trial last month.
