Photo by MOR Image & Marketing Last Monday, Cory-Rawson Gymnastics launched its season, with Hornet freshman Madalyn Oman making a strong debut. She took 1st place on bars and placed 4th on both floor and all-around. Although new to high school competition, Oman boasts an impressive eight years of gymnastics experience. It will be exciting to see where the young star goes from here.
H/T Kenton Wildcats Wrestling Over the weekend, Kenton Girls Wrestling took part in the 54th Marion Harding Wrestling Classic (2nd Girls), earning an impressive 8th place out of 20 teams. Patience Smith led the charge with a 1st place finish in her class, while Serria Vansky grabbed 3rd and Anna Mundy secured 4th.
Benjamin Logan Boys Varsity Bowling sent the London Red Raiders home with a 2720-2315 loss. The win improves Ben Logan's record to 3-5 in the CBC. Upper Scioto Valley Schools is in the process of establishing an Athletic Hall of Fame and is seeking members of the community to serve on the inaugural Hall of Fame Committee. The committee will be responsible for helping develop the criteria, nomination process, and overall structure of the Upper Scioto Valley Athletic Hall of Fame. The Kenton Wildcats notched their sixth straight win Thursday, defeating Lima Temple Christian 2782-1926. They surged ahead early with a 412-pin lead after the first individual games, thanks to Trevor Roesner’s 267. In the second games, Hudson Latimore’s 236 extended the lead to 558 pins heading into five baker games. Kenton kept building their advantage until sealing the victory. The Kenton Wildcats earned their fifth win of the season with a 1755-1328 victory over Lima Temple Christian on Thursday. They started strong, rolling a 659 in the first individual games to take a 138-pin lead, then followed up with a 702 in the second to stretch the advantage to 385 pins heading into the baker games. The Wildcats dropped a hard-fought game at home to Liberty Benton, 54-46. Sidney Payne led the Cats with 28 points, followed by Kaiden Gammon with 8. Emori Criner and Jaz Long added 3 points each, while Kaylee Barlow and Ally Rhinehart chipped in 2 apiece. For the Eagles, Corra Dehart scored 17 points and Amelia Kin added 15. The Cats now sit at 3-3 on the season and will host OG on Thursday.
