Handell and Blevins Place Runner-up at Bucyrus Pool Tournament

Four wildcat wrestlers placed at the Bucyrus 37th Annual Pool Tournament this weekend.  Senior, Matthew Handell and Sophomore Isaac Blevins lead the way with second place honors for the tournament. The team placed twelfth out of fifteen teams from Northern Ohio with 41.5 points.  Bluffton High School won the tournament with two champions and eight placers scoring 140 total points.  Riverdale, with only a five team roster, managed to place sixth with three placers scoring 76.5 points. Obituary for Bobby Lee Bingham

         Bobby Lee Bingham, age 71, of Findlay, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Blanchard Valley Health System.              He was born on November 14, 1953 in Wartburg, Tennessee to the late Benjamin and Barbara (Freytag) Bingham. The Kenton Boys 8th grade basketball team beat Elida Thursday night for their first win of the season. It was a tremendous turnaround being the same team beat them as 7th graders 41-5. The Widcats were led by Tanner Butcher with 14 followed by Xavier Gammon with 11. Butcher led the Wildcats in rebounds with 8 with Gammon adding 7. Senior, Matthew Handell, sealed the victory for Kenton over the Titans in wrestling action on Thursday night 38-30.  The Wildcats were down four team points heading into the 215 lb weight class match that would determine the winner of the WBL dual matchup.  Both teams with small rosters gave up many team forfeit points favoring Kenton slightly. The Kenton Wildcats and Ottawa-Glandorf Titans volleyed back in forth throughout the match until the Wildcats were able to rally to defeat Ottawa 2941 - 2931. Kenton took a 19 pin lead after the 1st individual games 995 - 976.
